현대종교에 많은 선교사들의 자료 요청이 들어오고 있다. 해외에서 사용할 수 있는 영어로 번역된 이단 자료가 필요하다는 것이다. 그래서 현대종교는 매월 한 단체씩 이단단체에 대한 정보를 영어로 번역해 게재하고자 한다. [편집자 주]

The ‘Loft’ appeared in the New Testament is the place at where the Paraclete presented and the church and movement  for Jesus Christ started. However, the Loft, a.k.a Darakbang (World Evangelization Association)is quite different from the Loft described in the bible. Darakbang Evangelism Movement of Mr. Kwang Su Ryu has been classified as a cult and/or heresy organization by several denominations (the Presbyterian Church of Korea(Koryeo), the Koshin Presbyterian Church in Korea(Koshin), the Presbyterian Church of Korea(Tonghap), the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Korea(Hapdong), Korea Evangelical Holiness Church, the Korea Baptist Convention, the Korean Methodist Church etc.). Why is it classified as a cult and heresy?

신약성서에 등장하는 ‘다락방’은 보혜사 성령이 임재한 곳이며, 교회와 예수 운동이 본격화된 출발점으로 알려져 있다. 하지만 ‘다락방(세계복음화전도협회)’의 이미지는 성서의 그것과 사뭇 다르다. 류광수씨의 다락방전도운동은 여러 교단들(고려, 고신, 통합, 합동, 기성,기침, 기감 등)로부터 이단으로 분류되어 있다. 그 이유는 무엇일까?

Who is Mr. Kwang Su Ryu?

류광수는 누구인가?

Mr. Kwang Su Ryu, the founder of World Evangelization Association (represented by Kwang Su Ryu, Darakbang) was born in Sangnam-myeon, Miryang-si, Gyeongsangnam-do, Republic of Korea in October, 1951. He attended at the Ilshin Church, located at Sujeongdong, Busan, of which denomination is the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Korea(Hapdong) (hereinafter referred to as the “General Assembly”). During the period from 1978 to 1985, he attended at Koshin University and Chongshin University and his major was theology. After graduation, he was ordained as a minister in the Busan Presbytery. During his work in Busan Dongseong Church as a curate, he was appointed as a minister of the Busan Dongsam Chaeil Church. At that time, Mr. Ryu began in earnest his Darakbang movement. (hereinafter referred to as “Darakbang Evangelism Movement”)

세계복음화전도협회(대표 류광수, 다락방) 설립자 류광수씨는 1951년 10월, 경남 밀양시 상남면에서 태어났다. 류씨는 부산 수정동의 예장합동 일신교회에 출석했다. 이후 1978년부터 1985년까지 고신대학교와 총신대학교에서 신학 공부를 했다. 졸업 후 예장합동 부산노회에서 목사 안수를 받고 부산 동성교회 부목사로 시무하던 중 1987년 부산동삼제일교회 청빙을 받아 부임하게 됐다. 류씨는 이때부터 본격적으로 다락방전도운동을 전개하기 시작했다.

The number of followers belonged to Mr. Ryu’s church increased, but he was officially dismissed from the position of minister by Busan Presbytery becase of his Darakbang doctrines and his ethical problems in the133th Presbytery Meeting and 1st Special Meeting of Presbytery. Mr. Ryu joined another denomination called the Koshin Presbyterian Church in Korea(Koshin) and South Busan Presbytery, right after his dismissal from the Busan Prebytery, but his membership in the Koshin Presbyterian Church in Korea and South Busan Presbytery soon became void for same reasons. He appealed against his dismissal to the Busan Presbytery in the General Assembly. The General Assembly composed “Committee for Prevention and Investigation Against Darakbang’s Expansion” and started detailed research for Darakbang Evangelism Movement. In the 81st General Meeting of the General Assembly, Mr. Ryu’s Darakbang has been decided as a heresy.

교세의 성장을 이어가던 류씨는 1991년 11월 26일 부산노회 제133차 1회 임시노회에서 다락방 교리 및 도덕적인 문제로 목사 면직을 판결받았다. 그후 류씨는 1993년 10월, 교단을 옮겨 예장고신 남부산노회에 가입하지만, 곧 가입 무효가되고, 이에 1994년 10월, 예장합동 총회 산하 부산노회에 목사면직에 대한 재심 청구를 올렸다. 예장합동 측은 1995년 제80회 총회에서 “다락방 확산방지 및 이단성 규명 위원회”를 구성, 다락방 운동에 대한 구체적인 연구 조사에 착수하고, 제81회 총회에서 다락방을 이단으로 결의했다.

The most denominations, such as Presbyterian, Methodist, Holiness, and Baptist, have decided that the Darakbang Evangelism Movement is a heresy or cult, and strictly prohibited their own ministers from attending at this movement. Mr. Ryu decided as a leader of heresy and/or cult by many denom inations established “the Presbyterian Church of Korea, Evangelization Assembly” in 1997 and has been systematically developing his Darakbang Evangelism Movement since then. Mr. Ryu and his Darakbang Evangelism Movement have entered into a denomination called as the Revolutionary Presbyterian Church in Korea(hereinafter referred to as “RPCK”) and it is known that there are about 500 Darakbang churches, at present.

이후 장로교, 감리교, 성결교,침례교를 비롯해 대부분의 기성 교단들이 다락방전도운동을 “이단” 혹은 “사이비”로 규정하고 교단 소속 목회자들이 여기에 참여하는 것을 엄격하게 금지했다. 이단으로 결의된 류씨는 1997년 “대한예수로회 전도총회”를 결성했고, 지금까지 조직적으로 다락방전도운동을 전개하고 있다. 2011년 이후 예장개혁 교단에 소속
해 활동하고 있으며, 다락방 지교회 수는 500여 곳으로 알려져 있다.

What does the Darakbang insist?

다락방은 무엇을 주장하는가?

Mr. Ryu defines Darakbang Evangelism Movement as a “bible study for followers who believe that there is God’s plan and purpose at where we are and who will propagate their belief to the target areas”.

1) Darakbang Evangelism Movement

1) 다락방 운동

류광수씨는 다락방전도운동에 대해서 “우리가 처해 있는 곳에 하나님의 계획과 목적이 있는 줄을 믿고, 전도 지역에 침투해 들어가 전도 활동을 펴기위한 성경공부 활동”이라고 정의하고 있다.

The main criticism about the Darakbang Evangelism Movement is that this movement actually spreads Mr. Ryu’s wrong interpretation as to the bible.

이러한 “다락방전도운동”이 문제가 되는 이유는 류씨의 잘못된 사상을 전파한다는데 근본적인 문제가 있다.

According to the Research Report on Mr. Ryu’s Darakbang Evangelism Movement written by the General Assembly (published in the 81st General Meeting 1995), “this movement changes existing Christians to a secret agent of the Darakbang Evangelism Movement and this causes serious problem to the ecclesiology of such Christians exposed to the Darakbang doctrines.” and “the training provided by Darakbang may mislead Christians into wrongful soteriology, but also, it may cause serious conflict between existing Christians and Darakbang followers.”

류씨의 다락방전도운동에 대한 예장합동 연구보고서(제81회 총회, 1995년)에 따르면 “기존 신자들을 요원화하고 다락방화한다는 점에서 교회론에 심각한 문제를 제기하고 있다고 판단된다”며 “다락방 전도훈련은 구원론에 있어 신자를 오도할 우려가 있을 뿐만 아니라 교회 내에서 다락방화 된 신자와 그렇지 못한 신자 사이에 위화감을 조장하고 분열을 일으킬 위험성이 있다”고 밝히고 있다.

Mr. Ryu interprets the history of salvation as a confrontation with demons. It is wrong.

류씨의 핵심 사상은 구속사를 마귀와의 대결로 보는 잘못된 마귀론에 있다.

According to the Research Report of the Presbyterian Church of Korea(Koryeo) (published in the 45th General Meeting, 1995), Mr. Ryu’s theology is “non-revoluntionary, anti-gospel, and unbalanced” and “his doctrine focuses on experiences and evidences and it is a demonology and/or theology of demon casting which explains human being’s sins and salvation based on the Satan, demon and ghost”.

예장고려 연구보고서(제45회 총회, 1995년)에 따르면 류씨의 신학을 “비개혁주의 신학사상이요, 비복음주의적이며 균형 잃은 신학”이라며 “체험과 증거를 강조하는 감정신학이며, 사탄, 마귀, 귀신을 중심으로 인간의 죄와 구원을 풀어 가는 일종의 사탄신학 내지 축사신학이다”라고 밝히고 있다.

Professor Yong Kyu Park of Chongshin University criticized Mr. Ryu’s doctrines, in his journal entitled “Criticism on Darakbang Evangelism Movement of Kwang Su Ryu” (published in the Theological Review 2005 Spring edition). In his journal, Professor Park argued that “Kwang Su Ryu is influenced by Mr. Ki Dong Kim’s Demonology and he defines the history of salvation as a confrontation with demon” and “interpretation of bible and history of salvation based on the Demonology is identical to the Berea’s bible interpretation insisted by Ki Dong Kim.”

총신대학교 박용규 교수도 자신의 논문 “류광수다락방전도운동 비판”(「신학지남」 2005년 봄호)에서 “류광수는 김기동의 귀신론의 영향을 받아 구속사를 마귀와의 대결로 보고 있다”며 “귀신론 중심의 성경 해석과 구속사 이해는 김기동 베뢰아의 가르침과 일치하고 있다”고 주장했다.

3) 다락방식 성경공부에 역점을 둔 전도운동

Mr. Ryu says that he is conducting Darakbang Evangelism Movement, but in fact, his movement focuses on the Darakbang’s bible study, not the movement for pure gospel and evangelization. His bible study makes existing Christians confused, by brainwashing them into believing only Darakbang doctrine which is unacceptable to the traditional churches.

류씨는 다락방전도운동을 한다고 하지만 실상은 전도운동을 목적으로 다락방식 성경공부에 역점을 두고 있으며, 정통교회에서 수용할 수 없는 다락방 사상들을 주입함으로 성도들을 혼란케 하고 있다.

According to the Research Report of the Presbyterian Church of Korea(Tonghap) (published by the 81st General Meeting, 1995), it held that “even though Mr. Ryu insists that Darakbang Evangelism Movement is only atypical evangelization quite similar to existing churches’ missionary works, it is revealed that demonology in his movement commits fallacy and his doctrine makes existing churches and Christians confused” and declared that “Darakbang Evangelism Movement shall not be allowed and permitted in ordinary and common churches”.

예장통합 연구보고서(제81회 총회, 1995년)는 “류광수씨의 다락방전도운동은 비록 전도운동이라 주장하지만, 그 가르침 가운데 마귀론에서 오류를 범하고 있는 것으로 밝혀졌고 교회를 어지럽히고 성도를 혼란하게 한다”며 “이 운동(다락방전도운동)을 그대로 답습하는 일이 없어야 될 것이다”라고 천명하고 있다.

Current Activity Status of Darakbang

다락방 활동 현황

1) Remnant Movement

1) 렘넌트 운동

Mr. Ryu has been developing another movement called “Remnant Movement” in order to widely spread the Darakbang Evangelism Movement, since the Darakbang Evangelism Movement was decided as a heresy and cult by many denominations. Mr. Ryu defines the Remnant as “a left and remained person who takes responsibility over the dark age and future of country” and he emphasizes the reasonableness and necessity of this movement.

다락방전도운동이 이단으로 결의되자 류씨는 다락방전도운동의 확산을 위해 ‘렘넌트 운동’을 전개하고 있다. 류씨는렘넌트에 대해서 “시대와 국가의 어두운 앞날을 책임지고 나아갈 남은 자, 흩어진 자”라 정의하며 이 운동의 당위성을 강조하고 있다.

RUTC means and refers to a ‘Remnant Unity Training Center’. RUTC is a word which Darakbang frequently uses in their Darakbang Evangeliztion Movement. Darakbang purchased a piece of land sized as 29.75 hr and
located at San53-5, Maegok-ri, Hobeopmyeon, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea. This land is for RUTC and now it is in the course of construction.

RUTC는 렘넌트 공동체 훈련장을 의미한다. 다락방은 RUTC란 이름으로 다락방 전도 운동을 펼치고 있다. 경기도 이천시 호법면 매곡리 산53-5일대에 약 9만 평의 부지를 매입해 RUTC라는 이름으로 착공 중에 있다.

At that place, ▲assembly facility, ▲accommodation, ▲schools, ▲sports complex and etc. are under construction and Darakbang publicly says that this place will be utilized as a place of cultural exchange for Remnants. Also, it is known that RUTC broadcast system is opened and it is broadcasting Darakbang’ssermons, praises and documentaries.

그곳에는 ▲집회시설 ▲숙박시설 ▲학교 ▲스포츠 시설 등을 세워, “전세계 렘넌트들의 교류의 장”으로 활용할 계획이다. 이 외에도 RUTC 방송국을 개국해 다락방 측의 설교와 찬양 다큐멘터리 등을 송출하고 있다.

Darakbang holds World Mission Conventions and strengthens the unity of members. In the website of World Mission Convention, DARAK.NET, it quotes that “World Mission Convention is a convention for learning history
and trend of the Darakbang Evangelism Movement of Mr. Kwang Su Ryu”.

다락방 측은 세계선교대회를 개최하여 다락방 내 결속을 다지고 있다. 선교총국 홈페이지는 “세계선교대회는 류광수씨의 다락방전도운동의 역사와 흐름을 배우는 대회”라고 대회 성격을 밝히고 있다.

4) Education and Social Care Activity

Darakbang operates alternative schools, such as “Remnant Leader School” which teaches the Darakbang ideological doctrines to its students. Also, Darakbang established the “Remnant Social Welfare Foundation” which make social care activities for children, teenagers and aged people.

“렘넌트 지도자 학교” 등 대안학교를 운영하여 다락방의 사상적인 교리를 전하고 있고, ‘사회복지법인 렘넌트’를 설립해 어린이, 청소년, 노인복지분야를 중심으로 활동하고 있다.

In order to educate and train agents specialized to persuade university and college stu-dents, Darakbang established the Department of College Ministry (hereinafter referred to as “DCM”) and this organization works in every university and college all over the nation or Korea. Also Darakbang established “Beautiful Mission Center” at Philippine for tempting students originally from Philippine and oversea students preparing their university life in Philippine into Darakbang doctrine.

대학현장에서 학생들을 포교하여 전문화된 요원을 양성하기 위한 DCM(Department of College Ministry) 전문포교 단체를 만들어 현재 전국 대부분의 대학에 조직적으로 뿌리를 내리고 있으며, 필리핀 ‘아름다운미션센터’를 설립해 필리핀 현지 유학생과 유학을 준비하는 학생들을 포교하고 있다.

Oneness Mission Club (hereiafter referred to as “OMC”) is established by Darakbang and this OMC supports the Darakbang activities and target businesses. This OMC operates and conducts a business to secure finances for Darakbang Evangelism Movement

다락방 활동을 지원하고, 목적사업을 지속할 수 있도록 돕는 OMC(ONENESS MISSION CLUB)를 설립해 풍부한 재원 확보 사업을 진행하고 있다.

예장개혁 교단 소속 다락방

Darakbang is a member of a denomination called as ‘RPCK’ and this causes serious confusion to Christians, since it seems and sounds a normal Christian denomination. Despite of strong opposition from existing ministers and elders in this denomination, Darakbang was welcomed by the RPCK and celebration service for welcoming Darakbang to the denomination was held on June 21st, 2011 at Ilsan KINTEX.

다락방은 예장개혁이라는 교단에 소속해 있어 성도들의 혼란이 가중되고 있다. 예장개혁교단 목회자와 장로들의 강력한 반대에도 불구하고, 2011년 6월 21일 일산 킨텍스에서 다락방 영입예배가 열렸다.

The RPCK made its choice to take Darakbang into the denomination. As a result, this denomination has been divided into two parts. Eleven (11) Christian denominations published their statements respectively but the contents were saying same critical about this choice of RPCK, and several professors in the theology colleges all over the nation made press conferences for opposing the RPCK’s decision to take Darakbang.

예장개혁 교단에서 다락방을 받아들인 것이다. 이로 인해 기존의 예장개혁 교단이 둘로 갈라졌다. 11개 교단이 성명서를 발표하고, 전국 신학대학 교수들이 기자회견을 여는 등 다락방 영입 문제를 강하게 규탄했다.

The Christian Council of Korea has maintained the membership of RPCK who received Darakbang as a proper denomination, and further it released Darakbang from the heresy decision in 2012.

한기총은 둘로 갈라진 예장개혁 교단 중에 다락방을 영입한 예장개혁 교단을 한기총 회원 교단으로 유지했고, 더 나아가 2012년에는 다락방을 이단에서 해제하는 초유의 사태가 벌어졌다.

This caused the birth and establishment of the Communion of Churches in Korea, a new united churches and denominations which decided Darakbang as a heresy and/or cult and took their names out of the Christian Council of Korea.

이것은 한국교회연합이라는 새로운 교단연합기구의 탄생에 일조했고, 다락방을 이단으로 결의한 대형 교단들은 한기총을 탈퇴하게 되었다.

At present, Darakbang is a major faction in RPCK. In the denomination, the number of Darakbang churches occupies 77% in RPCK and 7 members of general assembly of this RPCK belong to Darakbang churches. The full number of general assembly members is 10.

현재 예장개혁 교단 내에는 다락방 비율이 상당하다. 다락방 교회수가 77%를 차지하고 있으며, 총회 임원 10명 중에 7명이 다락방 출신이다.

Furthermore, in order to become a minister in RPCK, graduation from Darakbang theology school is essential. RPCK’s general assembly approves the ‘Remnant Theology Seminary’ as an official seminary of RPCK and it approves its financial supports to this school. A school for Mr. Ryu’s doctrines became an official seminary of RPCK.

게다가 예장개혁 교단에서 목회자가 되기 위해서는 다락방 신학교를 졸업해야 한다. 예장개혁 교단은 렘넌트신학연구원을 총회 인준 최종신학교로 결정하고 총회에서 재정 보조를 허락한 상황이다. 다락방 목회자를 기르던 신학원이 예장개혁 교단 목회자를 양성하는 곳으로 탈바꿈하게 되었다.

Mr. Ryu’s Darakbang Evangelism Movement is systematically spreading in a form of bible study toward workplaces, schools, churches and etc. Also, followers of Mr. Ryu targets Christians in every area, such as social wel-fare, culture, industry and etc. and their influence has been expanded.

류광수씨의 다락방전도운동은 조직적인 방법으로 직장, 학교,교회 등 곳곳에서 성경공부 등을 매개로 활동하고 있다. 또한 복지, 교육, 문화, 산업 등 여러 현장을 다락방전도운동의 시장으로 삼고 그 영향력을 확대해 나아가고 있다.

In past, Korean churches classified Mr. Ryu’s Darakbang Evangelism Movement as a heresy or cult based on heological studies, and their position is still calm. But Mr. Ryu and his Darakbang entered into existing denomination and has attempted to be released from decision of heresy or cult. However, the veracity of Mr. Ryu and his Darakbang has been continuously suspected and the denominations which decided Darakbang as heresy have never changed their position about their decision for Darakbang.

과거 한국 교계는 다락방전도운동의 신학적 연구를 통해 이단으로 분류하였으나, 현재는 기성 교단 안으로 들어와 이단 시비에서 벗어나기 위해 시도하고 있다. 하지만 그 변화의 진실성에 대한 문제제기는 계속되고 있으며, 다락방을 이단으로 규정한 교단들의 입장에도 변화가 없는 상태이다.
