환난 날에 유일하게 살아남을 수 있는 마지막 도피처는 피지라며 신도들을 미혹했던 은혜로교회 신옥주씨. 무차별적인 폭언과 폭행으로 신도들의 삶을 유린하고 노동력을 착취하며 사회적인 물의를 빚었던 은혜로교회는 합신, 고신, 통합, 합동 측으로부터 각각 이단, 참여금지, 이단성, 집회 참석 금지로 결의되었다. ‘종말’이라는 무리수를 던지며 허황된 꿈을 심어준 은혜로교회의 문제점은 무엇일까?

Ms Ok Joo Shin made her followers to move to Fiji Island, South Pacific, based on her insistence that Fiji Island is the last place for taking refugee from the days of troubles and the Armageddon. The Grace Road Church led by this woman committed several violence and assault cases against its followers and it is taking advantages of follower’s free labor. Based on these cases, traditional churches in Korea, such as the Korean Presbyterian Church (Hapshin), the Koshin Presbyterian Church in Korea (Koshin), the Presbyterian Church of Korea (Tonghap), and the General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Korea (Hapdong) determined this Grace Road Church as a heresy, a non-participatable organization, a heretical organization, and an organization which shall be banned to be participated by christians, respectively. What are the Grace Road Church’s main insistence treated as unreasonable by traditional churches? What are real problems caused by this organization?

Who is Ms Ok Joo Shin?

신옥주씨는 중앙총회신학을 졸업하고, 대한예수교장로회 해외합동총회 서북노회 소속 목사로 활동했다. 신씨는 중국에서 선교사로 활동하다가 2008년 은혜로교회를 개척했다. 2009년 8월에는 바울사관아카데미(원장 신옥주)를 개원했

다. 제98회 예장합신 이대위는 신옥주의 이단성에 대한 보고서를 통해 은혜로교회가 경기도 과천시 주암동 159번지 9(전 경기도 용인시 기흥구 중동)를 본원으로 활동하면서 대구분원(대구광역시 달서구 이곡동 영광제일교회), 동경분원(마쯔도 사랑의교회) 등을 개원했고, 국내 천안, 대전, 진주, 울산, 대구, 제주 등을 비롯해 일본 오사카, 호주 시드니, 미국 뉴욕과 중국에 지교회를 세웠다고 발표한 바 있다.

Ms Shin graduated Joongang the Presbyterian General Assembly Seminary and worked as a minister of SeoBook (West North) branch of Foreign Hapdong General Assembly in the Presbyterian Church of Korea. After her short ministry, Ms Shin was dispatched as a missionary to the People’s Republic of China (“China”). In 2008, she founded the Grace Road Church. In August, 2009, she founded the Paul Academy. The 98th Heresy Prevention Commission of the Korean Presbyterian Church (Hapsin) published its report regarding the Grace Road Church. In this report, it describes heretical tendency of Ms Shin and the Grace Road Church. Also, It shows that the Grace Road Church (of which principal office is located at 159-9 Juamdong, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea (“Korea”)) founded its branches in Daegu and Tokyo and made its sub-churches in Cheonan, Daejeon, Jinju, Ulsan, Daegu, Jeju of Korea, Osaka of Japan, Sydney of Australia, New York of USA and several places in China.

은혜로교회는 무엇을 주장하는가?
Main Insistence of Grace Road Church

1. 성경은 방언으로서 통역해야 한다고 주장
1. Insistence that the Holy Bible shall be translated into glossolalia

신옥주씨는 성경을 방언이라고 주장한다. 또한, 방언인 성경을 해석하는 것이 ‘방언통역’이며 그것이 곧 ‘예언’이라고 하여 자신의 성경해석을 예언처럼 만들었다.

Ms Shin insists that the Holy Bible is a book of glossolalia. Ms Shin claims that the Holy Bible shall be translated into normal languages and that her translation is a kind of prophecy.

▶ 성경은 하나님이 하신 일이며, 방언(말)으로 되어 있다. 방언은 다른 사람이 못 알아듣는다. 성경적인 방언은 통역이 필요하다. 그 통역은 아무나 할 수 없으며, 내가 할 수 있다. (2013년 4월 28일 설교)

▶ The Bible is a record of God’s words written in glossolalia. People may not understand this, so, translation is required for understanding the Bible. I am the person who can do the translation of the Bible written in glossolalia. (Sermon given by Ms Shin on April 28th, 2013)

성경은 방언이 아니며, 통역이 필요 없다. 이런 주장은 성경을 기록된 내용과 달리 비유와 상징으로 해석해야 한다는 다른 이단과 동일한 주장을 하므로 자신과 자신에게 속한 자들만이 성경을 해석하고 비밀을 풀어줄 능력을 갖춘 집단처럼 말하고 있다.

However, as we all know, the Bible is not written in glossolalia, so it does not require such translation. Ms Shin’s insistence that the Bible shall be translated is similar to the insistence of many heretical and cult organizations. Many heresies, including Ms Shin’s Grace Road Church, claim that they are the only organizations or persons who can translate and interprete the secrets of the Bible.

2. 성경은 비유라고 주장
2. Insistence that the Bible consists of metaphors and similes

2011년 8월 22~24일에 진행된 11차 공개세미나를 통해 신옥주씨는 한 단어에 대해 그 단어가 나오는 성경의 여러 구절을 읽으며 비유풀이했다.

In her 11th open seminar held during the period from August 22nd to 24th, 2011, Ms Shin explained a word mentioned in a few verses as a metaphor.

▶ 비유는 유사한 말이며, 이를 다른 말로 표현하면 속담 또는 격언이요 모습을 말하는 것을 뜻한다. 그래서 성경이 상징과 비유로 기록되었다고 하는 것은 반드시 통역해서 전해야 알아들을 수 있다는 말과 같다. 다시 말하면 많은 비유로 말씀하셨다는 것은 유사하게 말씀하셨다는 뜻이므로 이를 정확하게 통역하라는 뜻이다. (『방언통역과 방언』 147쪽)

▶ a ‘simile’ or a ‘metaphor’ means a word with several meanings similar to other words. It could mean a proverb, saying or description. Therefore, the Bible shall be translated for normal people, since it is written in many symbols and metaphors. In other words, the Bible requires accurate translation, since more metaphors used in the Bible means more ambiguousness. 허호익 교수(전 본지 편집자문위원)는 “전혀 문맥이 다른 글들을 여기저기서 끌어다가 제멋대로 해석하는 것은 이단들의 비유풀이와같은 방법이다”라며 “성경은 전후문맥에 맞춰 간단명료하게 해석해야 한다”고 말했다. 또한 “(신옥주

Professor Ho Ik Heo (former the advisory consultant of The Modern Religion Monthly) said that “Ms Shin’s insistence on the Bible is just same as the other heresies’ insistence on the Bible. The Holy Bible shall be simply interpreted with nearby contexts. Ms Shin’s idea of the Bible and her denial of the traditional churches cause serious problems.”

3. 시대마다 들어 쓰는 지도자가 있다고 주장
3. The insistence that each era has each leader

신천지는 시대마다 들어 쓰는 지도자(구원자)가 있다. 각 시대마다 때를 따라 양식을 먹이는 종들이 있다고 주장한다. 신옥주씨도 마찬가지로 이 시대에 자신이 하나님이 들어 쓰시는 의식 있는 지도자라고 주장한다.

Shincheonji Church (led by Mr. Man Hee Lee) claims that each era has each leader (messiah) and each leader is the only servant for God’s works for such era. This is same with Ms Shin’s insistence that she is the leader and servant of this age.

▶ Chapter 15 Verse 26 of the John, the Bible quotes, “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.” This is the verse which proves our last 10 year history. 신천지, 하나님의교회, 만민중앙교회, 기독교복음선교회 등과 같은 방법으로 신옥주씨도 자신을 신격화했다. 하나님을 내세워 자신을 우상화하려는 이단 교주의 세뇌방식을 신씨도 사용하고 있었다.

This is how Ms Shin deifies herself. Shincheonji Church, World Mission Society Church of God, Manmin Central Church, and Christian Gospel Mission (JMS) have used same method to deify their leaders, as Ms Shin does. Ms Shin brainwashes her followers in the same way.

4. 예수는 육체, 그리스도는 영이라고 주장
4. Jesus means a body and Christ means a spirit?

신씨는 예수와 그리스도를 나누어 기독론을 왜곡했다. 예수는 인성이고 그리스도는 신성이라고 분리해 예수를 피조물이라고 주장하며 성부만이 하나님이라고 주장했다.

Ms Shin wrongfully separates Jesus from Christ. She claims that Jesus means personality and Christ means holiness. In her insistence, Jesus is a creature, not the God, and the Holy Father is only God.

▶ 예수는 육체(사람), 그리스도는 영(하나님)이라 주장하며 성경의 문자적인 기록은 예수의 일이고 그 뜻을 풀면 그리스도라고 말했다. (『내 생각은 너희 생각과 다르고』, 53쪽)

▶ Jesus is a person and Christ is a spirit. The Bible records Jesus’s works. When I translate the Jesus’s works in the Bible, it will mean the Christ. (p. 53, 『What I think is different from what you think』, written by Ok Joo Shin)

신씨는 그리스도를 신성, 영, 하나님으로 보는데, 그리스도가 육체로 온 것이 예수라는 주장은 잘못된 기독론이며, 예수라는 육체 안으로 영이신 그리스도가 들어왔다고 주장하는 것도 잘못된 기독론이다.

Ms Shin divides Christ into three parts: holiness, spirit, and God. In her insistence, Jesus is a flesh with Christ. She claims that Christ entered into Jesus, the human flesh. However, this is a wrongful interpretation and christology.

5. 대기근을 대비하기 위한 곳은 피지라고 주장
5. Insistence that Fiji is only refuge from the great famine

신옥주씨는 ”장차 올 세상에 임할기근”을 대비해 식량을 비축하고 종말을 피할 수 있는 땅은 ‘피지’라고 주장했다. 환란을 피하려면 피난처인 피지로 가야 한다며 피지로 신도들을 이주시켜 집단생활을 하도록 하고 있다. 하나님의 천년왕국을 건설한다는 명목이다. 400여 명의 신도는 피지가 구원의 땅이라 믿고 이주하여 살고 있다. 신씨는 창세기 10장 6절을 통해 후손(함, 구스)이 사는 땅 곧 남쪽에 있는 섬나라(피지)를 약속의 땅으로 여겼다.

Ms Shin claims that Fiji Island is only land where people flees from the days of trouble and the great famine. She encourages her followers to move to Fiji and to live in a group. She insists that movement to Fiji is to establish the millennium, the holy kingdom of the God. Around 400 followers are living in Fiji, right in this moment. Ms Shin quotes Chapter 10 Verse 6 of the Genesis “the Sons of Hams: Cush, Mizraim, put and Canaan.” and claims that Fiji island is the land at where the Ham and Cush’s heirs live and the land of promise.

▶ 하나님이 주신 약속의 땅은 피지이며, 피지를 비웃거나 비방하지말라. 그 약속의 땅은 직접 눈으로 봐야 한다. 피지로 이주하라. 환란을 피하려면 남태평양 피지로 가야 한다. (2017년 11월 27일 설교)

▶ God gives Fiji Island as the land of promise. You shall neither laugh at nor criticize Fiji land. The land of promise shall be witnessed with your own eyes. Move to Fiji Island. In order to avoid troubles, you must go to Fiji Island (Sermon given by Ok Joo Shin, on November 27th, 2017)

현재 신씨의 말을 믿고 피지로 이주한 은혜로교회 신도들은 집단생활을 하며 무임금으로 농사를 짓고 있다.

Ms Shin’s followers who moved to Fiji Island, with loyalty to Ms Shin, are living and work ing under the control of the Grace Road Church in Fiji Island, without any privacy nor personal life.

6. 타작마당은 종교의식이라고 주장
6. Grace Road Church insists that violence and assault are the religious ceremony.

피지로 이주한 신도들은 자신의 재산을 교회에 위임한다는 각서를 쓰고 재산과 여권을 빼앗긴 채 감금된 생활을 하면서 열네 시간 넘게 일했다. 그뿐만 아니라 ‘타작마당’[편집자 주: 타작마당은 은혜로 교회에서 뺨이나 머리 등을 수차

례 폭행하고 폭언을 일삼은 행위를 말한다. 교인들의 심판과 종교적인 정화 의식으로 비유하여 행해진다]이라는 종교의식을 통해 자신의 죄를 고백하는 시간을 가졌다.

The Grace Road Church’s followers moved to Fiji Island with belief that they will survive in the days of troubles and the great famine. They gave up and assigned their passports and all of their property to the Grace Road Church. They work at least 14 hours in a day under the harsh control of the Grace Road Church. Also, the Grace Road Church makes its followers to have “threshing floor” to each other for confessing their sins. (For clearance, “threshing floor” means beating followers’ cheek or head several times. The Grace Road Church treats this “threshing floor” as a cleansing ritual)

▶ 여호와여 일어나소서 나의 하나님이여 나를 구원하소서 주께서 나의 원수의 뺨을 치시며 악인의 이를 꺾으셨나이다 (시편 3편 7절)

신씨는 마태복음 3장 12절과 누가복음 3장 17절 말씀을 비유로 풀이하며 선악을 가라지와 알곡, 쭉정이와 곡식으로 믿는 자와 믿지 않는 자로 말했으며 이를 갈라내는 것을 ‘타작마당’이라고 했다. 이 집단폭행을 이겨내는 자는 알곡이

며, 믿는 자로 인정받는다. 죄를 고백하는 당사자를 둘러싼 채 그의 이야기가 끝나기가 무섭게 폭언과 함께 폭행을 가한다. 엄마가 딸을, 딸이 엄마의 뺨을 때리고 폭언을 일삼는 행위를 갖는가 하면, 집단 폭력을 행사하기도 했다. 은혜로교회의 비윤리적인 행위는 2018년 8월에 SBS <그것이 알고 싶다>와 JTBC <이규연의 스포트라이트>를 통해 보도된 바 있다.

Ms Shin interpreted verses in the Bible, such as Chapter 3 Verse 12 of Matthew and Chapter 3 Verse 17 of Luke, in a wrongful way. She said that God will find out true believers, as he separates wheats from chaffs. She defined God’s such separation work as “threshing floors”. In her theory, a person who survives and endures such violence is a wheat and true believer. In this horrendous ritual, a person confesses his/her own sins, people around him/her starts to beat and assault this person with abusive languages. Under this ritual, a mother beats her daughter, a daughter beats her mother, and mass violence occurs. This unethical and violent ritual was reported in many TV documentary shows, such as (Broadcasting Station: SBS) and (Broadcasting Station: JTBC) on August, 2018.

은혜로교회 최근 동향
Recent Status of Grace Road Church

신도를 감금하고 폭행한 혐의로 기소된 은혜로교회 신옥주는 2020년 2월 27일 징역 7년 형을 선고받아 복역 중이다.
 

Ms Shin is serving her sentence for seven (7) years for her charges of confinement and violence against her followers. Such decision was held on February 27th, (2020).

은혜로교회 신도들은 2020년 3월 2일 유튜브를 통해 신옥주의 석방을 요구하는 입장문을 발표하며 신씨가 억울하게 복역 중임을 알렸다. 4월 24일에는 교회 측 페이스북 계정을 통해 “코로나19 전염병은 왜 발생하는가”라는 제하의 글과 함께 “진리의 성령을 이단이니 사이비니 비방하고 핍박하여 옥에 가두었기 때문”이라며 “성령 신옥 주 목사님과 성도들에게 행한 불법한 재판, 부당한 판결을 즉각 철회하라”며 코로나19가 발생한 이유와 신씨의 죄를 결부시켰다. 또한 4월 29일 청와대 국민청원을 통해 신옥주의 7년 판결에 대한 재심을 청원하는 글을 올리기도 했다.

Followers of the Grace Road Church published a video insisting that Ms Shin is not guilty and she is serving in the prison without any sins, via YouTube on March 2nd, (2020). On April 24th, the Grace Road Church published a piece of writing named “Why COVID-19 breaks out” via its Facebook account. Under this piece of writing, the Grace Road Church claims Ms Shin’s discharge, and it insists that the break-out of COVID-19 is caused by wrongful arrest and verdict against Ms Shin, the Holy Spirit. On April 29th, (2020), the Grace Road Church uploaded a petition for retrial of Ms Shin in website of the Korean Presidential Residence of Cheongwadae.

남태평양 피지섬이 종말에 대비한 피난처라며 신도들을 이주시키고, 타작마당이란 명목으로 폭행과 폭언을 서슴지 않았던 은혜로교회 신옥주씨. 사회적인 문제를 양산하 고 있는 은혜로교회의 논란은 현재진행형이다. 피지로 이주해 종말을 기다리는 신도들과 그들의 가족들을 위한 대책 마련이 시급하다.

Ms Shin, a leader of the Grace Road Church made her followers to move to Fiji, based on her wrongful interpretation of the Bible, and slapped and beat her followers under the theory of threshing floor. She is now serving her sentence, but her crimes are still making serious results. There shall be a rescue measure for followers in Fiji and their families.
